Leading with Heart

When people ask me what drives me to lead AB Global the way I do, my answer is always the same: heart.

It’s the same heart I bring to raising my child. Being a mother has shaped the way I lead more than any leadership course or business book ever could. When you love a child, you don’t just show up halfway. You give your whole self, your patience, your guidance, your late nights, and your early mornings. You protect fiercely, but you also encourage growth and independence. That same deep, unwavering love carries over into how I run this company every single day.

Building Something Worth Protecting
When I founded AB Global, it wasn’t just about building a business. It was about creating something worth protecting, something I could pour my whole self into. Just like a child, a company needs nurturing, structure, and a steady hand to guide it through challenges. There are tough days, of course, but leading with heart means I don’t step back when things get hard. I lean in.

And that’s what I believe makes AB Global different. We don’t just “manage clients.” We care for them, advocate for them, and walk alongside them. We see their challenges and take them personally, because their success is our success.

The Human Side of HR

HR Pros know this truth better than anyone: people aren’t numbers. They’re individuals with stories, dreams, and families depending on them. That’s why leading with heart matters so much in this industry. Background screening isn’t just about data. It’s about protecting workplaces, safeguarding trust, and ensuring fairness in opportunities.

I remind myself of this daily. When our team works on a report, it isn’t just a checkbox. It’s someone’s career, someone’s next step in life. To me, that responsibility is sacred.

Heart as a Strategy

Some may think leading with heart is “soft.” I see it as the strongest strategy there is. Heart builds trust. Heart creates loyalty. Heart fuels resilience.

At AB Global, we’ve built a culture around the Gold Standard not because it looks good on paper, but because it reflects who we are at our core. We hold ourselves accountable, we strive for excellence, and we never lose sight of the people behind the process.

Why Heart Matters
I believe the future of leadership, especially in industries like ours, depends on more people leading with heart. We bring a perspective that balances strength with compassion, strategy with empathy. We know what it means to juggle responsibilities, to care deeply, to push forward even when the world tells us to slow down.

For me, the same love that makes me a mother makes me a better CEO. And the same commitment that keeps me showing up for my child keeps me showing up for my clients, my team, and this industry.

Because at the end of the day, leadership isn’t just about hitting numbers or winning awards. It’s about the legacy you leave, the people you lift, and the heart you put into everything you do.

Recent headlines about marijuana being “rescheduled” under the Controlled Substances Act have sparked a wave of confusion among employers and applicants alike. At AB Global, we’ve been fielding the same question repeatedly:
Hiring the right people starts with having the right information. But here’s the truth: your background check is only as accurate as the data you begin with. One small mistake—a wrong Social Security Number or a single digit off on a date of birth—can completely change the outcome of your screening process.
Cannabis laws in the United States are changing quickly, and many employers are finding it difficult to keep up. What used to be a simple part of the hiring process—reviewing a drug test—has become more complicated due to federal rules, state laws, hemp-derived alternatives, medical use, and changing candidate expectations.
